“Ubuntu Web Server on Cloud Hosting is cheaper and more manageable  vs Dedicated Server Hosting, at least in my opinion from previous experience” stated Joe Hobot about his recent discovery of cloud servers.  Later he stated that “Anyway, my topic was Ubuntu Web Server and Cloud Computing…ah..Yes! I love Linux been Linux user for almost 10 years now. Fast forwarding the story, I bought Cloud Hosting Service which was $10 per month and 1.5c per Hour for fully built server. You can install any kind of Linux Distribution: Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Suse etc… and Windows Server was 3c per hour.”  Ubuntu cloud hosting is the way to go!

Your monthly cost for a cloud server is$10 for membership, and about $10 for server, that’s $20 to have fully installed cloud server, you manage it, and has no restrictions.

Peak 10’s Cloud Plus Services Expand

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Managed hosting provider Peak 10 announced on Wednesday that its Cloud Plus services have seen huge growth.  Cloud Plus is available in both enterprise and private versions, with Enterprise Cloud Plus delivering services per virtual machine from multiple hosted clusters.

Their Enterprise Cloud Plus used to deliver public cloud like services in a Hosted model. Services are delivered per VM and take advantage of the multi-tenant model with resource pooling, dynamic load sharing, redundant infrastructure, and more.

“We have been offering fully hosted services for years on both physical and virtual platforms, shared and dedicated,” says Monty Blight, the vice president of managed services at Peak 10. “The cloud was a natural evolution of that service and has been widely accepted by our customers and has seen rapid growth.”

The Web host says  “broad experience, early entry into the field, and beta work with key cloud vendors makes it a resource for organizations looking to move into the cloud.”

Media Temple Raises $15 Million

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Media Temple has raised $15 million from a group of investors led by Triangle Capital (also includes GMB Mezzanine Capital)

Media Temple has an annual growth of 70%. The company’s staff grew 30% in 2009, and is on track to increase 25% this year. Currently, Media Temple hosts over 600,000 domains and has over 87,000 clients (including projects for Sony, Adobe, Toyota, ABC). “With the opportunities presented by our new product roadmap, it became clear that now was the time to raise our first round of growth capital,” CEO Demian Sellfors, said in a press release.

The new “war chest” as CEO Demian Sellfors describes it, will not be funneled to these side projects, but rather to revamp their marquee web hosting packages (the company has three primary products: Grid Service for $20 a month, Dedicated Virtual for $50 a month, and the high-powered Nitro for $750 a month) I’m pretty sure that they will be coming out with a Grid Cloud or something like that.  I’ve tried to find more on Media Temple and cloud hosting but have come up short.
