Spiceworks and Rackspace Join Forces

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Cloud hosing giant Rackspace will now be able to manage all of their e-mail hosting services through the free Spiceworks social IT management application.  Spiceworks specializes in Free Network Management Software to Simplify IT.

This agreement will allow customers like me and you to monitor and administrate their Rackspace cloud e-mail services within the Spiceworks IT management interface.  This will be huge to the average cloud server customer because it will allow you to check your cloud email without having to launch a separate portal. Now, you don’t think of this as that big of a deal but when you think that your e-mail and related storage can be hosted remotely at data centers this is huge and can have a significant cost savings.  Cloud email solutions are going to be another cost savings in the online cloud hosting world.

“Both Rackspace and Spiceworks are committed to creating the best experience for our customers and making IT simple and affordable for businesses,” says Jim Curry, vice president of corporate development at Rackspace. “Through our relationship with Spiceworks, we’ll provide a new avenue for nearly 1 million Spiceworks customers to integrate and manage the Rackspace cloud e-mail platform within their IT.”
