Day one at HostingCon 2010 has been amazing so far. Tier1 Research’s Agatha Poon delivered a presentation, “Building a Strong Cloud Hosting Business”. She general overview of the past, current and future state of the cloud hosting industry, including the many opportunities available for hosting providers.
Poon stressed throughout her speech that succeeding in the cloud market all comes down to establishing strong partnerships are in gaining capabilities and providing greater value for customers. Here are the majority of her thoughts;
- She explored the factors of growth for 2010, including a significant emphasis on consolidation, such as Desutsche Telekom’s acquisition of Strato and a considerable increase in the European and Asian cloud markets.
- How there is some discrepancy in the projections for how big the cloud market is worth.
- While many estimate the market at anywhere between $42 billion to $300 billion, Tier1 says it is worth just under $1 billion.
- Talked all about cloud assurance and security, enforcing strict SLAs, automated management, hybrid solutions and federated clouds, and unified deliver platform.
